STEM PBL Participant Develops  PBL Curricula

Alexander Pancic, a teacher at Brighton High School in Boston, and past participant in the STEM PBL Professional Development Project, has developed an entire engineering curriculum around PBL.

Mr. Pancic has utilized a “double-project approach” in which students are tasked to build a model or solve a problem, first with an appropriate level of guidance, and then are pushed to use their problem-solving skills to design an entirely new and innovative model.

Mr. Pancic has has designed several PBL challenges, ranging from how to rig a three-way light to designing planes, bridges, buildings and simple electronic devices. A favorite project which is also featured in these photos challenges students to design shoes to fit certain criteria.
