Regional Student Program

What is Tuition Break?

NEBHE’s Tuition Break program, the New England Regional Student Program (RSP), enables thousands of New England residents to enroll at out-of-state New England public colleges and universities at a discount. Students are eligible for the RSP Tuition Break when they enroll in an approved major that is not offered by the public colleges and universities in their home-state.

New England includes the following six states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Hundreds of Approved Programs

More than 700 undergraduate and graduate degree programs are offered through the RSP Tuition Break by New England’s 82 public colleges and universities. Check Find a Program.

Savings

Since it was established in 1957, the RSP Tuition Break has provided New England residents discounts on more than 250,000 annual tuition bills, with total savings well into the billions of dollars. In the 2011-12 academic year, over 9,000 New England residents saved an estimated $53 million in tuition because of the RSP. A full-time RSP student received an average tuition break of $6,900.  Click here to view the current tuition rates and savings at the participating colleges and universities.

The RSP Tuition Break program not only saves students thousands of dollars in college tuition, but also enables the six New England states to expand educational opportunities for their residents, while avoiding duplication of costly academic programs.
